Adrift is an artist book exploring the story of Life of Pi. It is a typographic exploration using material design systems, where structure, paper, fabric, and typography each act as a distinctive element carrying the story's argument about unreliable narratives and the fractured nature of reality. The book is non-linear by design — constructed to be opened and interacted with in multiple sequences rather than front-to-back, so reading becomes an act of unraveling, echoing both Pi's experience and the non-linear nature of memory itself.

Material choices reinforce that instability at every level. Pages are hand-fabricated from mulberry paper for its fibrous, translucent, weathered quality; the binding is hand-sewn with the stitching left exposed, so the book visibly holds itself together the way Pi holds his own story together. Hand fabricated ink bleeds and scribbles move unevenly across the page — bringing the chaos of the narrative into the physical object itself. Printed and laser-cut fabric panels stand in for the mesh of reality being torn and re-stitched: frayed edges and layered translucent cuts let one version of "truth" show faintly through another, a direct material echo of Pi's two competing accounts. The book lives in a soft cotton sleeve with the title adrift.

Typography carries the same fracture into language. A unified system of structure, material, and type where each special treatment maps to a specific emotional and narrative beat: conveying dissociation, disorientation,and a quiet chaos. Set in Plantin MT Pro, the system treats every material and typographic decision as a narrative device.
